Bayhealth Medical Center First in Delaware to Launch BidShift®

Web-based Open Shift Management Offers Scheduling Flexibility to Employees; Enhances Workforce Management

  • August 29, 2007
San Diego, Calif. August 29, 2007 –San Diego-based BidShift, the leading provider of effective staffing innovations for healthcare providers, has implemented its web-based program at Bayhealth Medical Center, a not-for-profit healthcare system with facilities in Dover, Milford and Middletown, DE. The program was recently implemented at Kent General Hospital, Dover, DE, and Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford, DE to provide an automated approach for filling open shifts, empowering employees, and supporting effective staffing practices. Bayhealth Medical Center is the first healthcare system in the state of Delaware to offer the online program.

"BidShift decreases administrative time and streamlines open shift scheduling for our nursing staff, empowering staff to better manage their schedules, and allowing us to focus more time on clinical issues," stated Bonnie Perratto, chief nurse officer, Bayhealth Medical Center. “BidShift increases visibility of shift openings to qualified staff across both hospital campuses, and gives staff the opportunity to pick up extra shifts in non-home units that may interest them.”

The web-based program provides staff 24/7 access to view and request all open shifts for which they are qualified. Its introduction expands the healthcare system’s ability to improve fairness in staff scheduling and to fully leverage the existing workforce by making available shifts across the health system visible to all qualified staff at the same time.

“We are pleased to be selected by Bayhealth Medical Center as they take a leadership position in their market to maximize use of the existing workforce while offering a valuable benefit to their employees,” stated David McCaslin, chief executive officer of BidShift, Inc. “With BidShift’s technology, they will have the ability to better manage the complexities associated with staffing, while lowering labor costs and increasing staff satisfaction."
