Senior Software Engineer

FLSA status: Exempt
Reports to: Engineering Team Lead
Location: Local San Diego
Travel: Rare (less than 5%)

Purpose of Position: 

The role of the senior software engineer is to lead in the build, design and debug software systems using programming languages, platforms, databases and other applicable tools on an advanced level of both knowledge and production. 

Accountabilities and Activities:

  • Proactively Identifies areas of opportunity to creatively program and design new software systems as assigned.

  • Evaluates appropriate technologies for building software compatible and consistent with company direction.

  • Full lifecycle application development

  • Designing, coding, and debugging applications in various software languages.

  • Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis

  • Object-oriented Design and Analysis (OOA and OOD)

  • Software modeling and simulation

  • Software testing and quality assurance

  • Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation.

  • Support, maintain and document software functionality

  • Evaluate and identify new technologies for implementation

  • Maintain standards compliance

  • Implement localization or globalization of software

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Applied Mathematics

  • 5-7 years experience as a software developer,

  • 5-7 years  Java development, Expert level

  • Experience developing and releasing commercial software applications, preferably using an Agile / TDD approach

  • Expert level competency in various programming languages and platforms

  • Superior design pattern knowledge and capability

  • Advanced JavaScript / HTML / CSS Skills

  • Strong mathematics capabilities

  • Advanced knowledge of databases and operating systems (OS).

Highly desired/ preferred attributes:

  • 10+ years software implementation, support and training

  • Advanced understanding of agile engineering

  • Leadership Skills

  • Advanced IDE Skills

  • Positive attitude

  • Proactively initiates problem solving and idea sharing.
